Adventist Health Central California Network is seeking an experienced and visionary physician leader to serve as Program Director for its Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of gastroenterology education while maintaining an active clinical and procedural practice within a thriving, high-volume GI program.

As Program Director, you will mentor fellows, develop a premier training program, advance academic excellence, and lead educational initiatives within a mission-driven healthcare system committed to exceptional patient care and physician development.

Major Responsibilities

  • Champion the mission, vision, and goals of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program and sponsoring institution.
  • Ensure compliance with ACGME Institutional, Common, and Gastroenterology Program Requirements and maintain full accreditation status.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive fellowship curriculum that supports excellence in clinical care, procedural competency, scholarship, quality improvement, and board preparation.
  • Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and retain high-performing fellows committed to professionalism, academic achievement, and patient-centered care.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for faculty involved in fellow education.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment where fellows can provide feedback and raise concerns confidentially and without retaliation.
  • Oversee fellowship program operations, resources, and budget while ensuring compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Promote scholarly activity, research initiatives, quality improvement projects, and evidence-based practice among fellows and faculty.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with academic institutions, teaching faculty, and community partners to enhance educational opportunities.
  • Serve as a leader and advocate for graduate medical education within Adventist Health Tulare and the surrounding community.


Qualifications

Required

  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology
  • Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship Program
  • Must hold or be eligible for an unrestricted California medical license
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in Gastroenterology
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence and ongoing clinical activity


Compensation & Benefits

Competitive Compensation Package

  • Annual salary range: $668,720 – $730,720

Total compensation may vary based on administrative responsibilities, productivity, call coverage, performance incentives, and other applicable services.


Call Responsibilities

  • Participation in a shared gastroenterology call rotation (Tulare, Hanford, Selma, Reedley)
  • Call schedule and frequency will be discussed during the interview process
  • Collaborative physician team providing comprehensive GI coverage across the community
